Wastewater Systems

This compact treatment plant is designed for the biological treatment of domestic wastewater, catering to 50-600 people. It consists of aeration, sedimentation, sludge stabilization tanks, and an operating cabin, all standardized for the specific population. Depending on the location of the plant and wastewater channel, wastewater is admitted to a gravity or lift and aeration unit. Here, organic matter is converted into carbon dioxide and water by aerobic bacteria. Air is introduced into the environment using blowers and diffusers to maintain aerobic conditions. In the aeration unit, wastewater, having removed organic contamination, passes into the sedimentation unit, along with bacterial flocs. Here, the bacterial flocs are sedimented, separating solids and liquids. The treated water from the sedimentation unit is disinfected by chlorination before being discharged into the receiving environment. If desired, the treated water can be filtered and used for garden irrigation. To maintain a constant level of purifying bacteria in the aeration tank, the bacterial flocs (activated sludge) at the bottom of the sedimentation tank are returned to the aeration unit via an air-lift system. Excess sludge is transported to the sludge stabilization unit. This unit injects aeration into the sludge, stabilizing it and preventing it from becoming septic. Several times a year, excess sludge is removed from the sludge stabilization unit using a sewage tanker.
